Voluntary Organisations

Gateshead Voluntary Organisations Council provides advice, information and training, on funding, constitutions, finances and legal charitable structures, to voluntary and community groups in Gateshead. It promotes volunteering, and community involvement in local strategic planning.

Newcastle Council for Voluntary Service is an independent non-profit making charitable organisation, managed by an elected voluntary committee. It receives substantial grants from Newcastle City Council and raises a considerable part of its funds from private sources through its own efforts and those of its supporters.

The SCN was established to enable the Community and Voluntary sector to enable local groups to link together, support each other and take part as equals on the Sunderland Local Strategic Partnership (LSP).
